My "Goldilocks" series of knives is one of my most popular designs (if not the most popular) because they are so easy to use and carry. The blade to handle proportions allows this knife to perform perfectly as a general purpose EDC (Every-Day-Carry) but it is also a great hunting or camping knife. The weight of this high carbon steel custom knife/sheath is right at 7.1 oz. so its comfortable to carry for extended periods of time (like all day). The shape of the handle allows for an extremely comfortable grip that can be controlled even when it gets a bit slippery. The full thickness full tang design puts a touch more weight in the users hand making the "Goldilocks" style easier to control under almost any conditions. Thumb serrations make precision cutting a breeze, the Swedge (false edge on the top of the blade) make this particular knife extra stabby for when you need to penetrate thick material such as hides, canvas, or cardboard. This style knife will do pretty much anything you ask of it, and look good while doing it.
I'm not real sure if I picked this piece of Florida Spalted Pecan for this knife or if I made the knife to go with this piece of Spalted Pecan. I do know that I decided on the Coffee Etched finish for the blade because of the Spalted Pecan... Every once in a while when I'm stabilizing (https://turntex.com/) I can picture what it will look like on a specific knife style and there are times when I get a knife blade close to being finished I picture what it will look like with a specific piece of wood that I already have stabilized.
The reason I'm not sure which way this particular knife combination was picked is because I was working on 4 different blades with 3 styles and I was stabilizing 5 different woods. I had the different blade style laying on my bench when I took a batch of wood out of the oven (finial step in stabilizing wood) and the combination of Goldilocks with Spalted Pecan just looked perfect.... all of the added accoutrements such as Star Mosaic pins, Coffee Etched finish, Thumb Serrations, and the Swedge, just seemed to be right for this knife.
