8 1/2 " OAL "Florida Series" Cross Cut Pecan Hunter/EDC

This knife was designed and created specifically to meet the requirements of a customer of mine that asked for a knife that he could use on the job. He had a few specifications and kind of liked a few designs I have but they weren't quite right. Well, I had been thinking of redesigning one of the knives that I had created specifically at the request of another customer and this is the result.

One of his requirements was a blade that wasn't to wide maybe around 1 inch wide (Less than the width of the 3 finger skinners or Goldilocks). Another requirement was that the blade needed to be pretty durable and it was going to be used every day, so the process began. This gorgeous Hunter/EDC is a redesigned version of a knife that I have made in the past. I have made a few upswept clip point versions of this knife but I always thought that the design would make a freakin' awesome drop point and I believe I was right! It's not a little knife but it will work great for an EDC because it's only 8 1/2 inches Over-All-Length so people won't be sayin' "Oh look, It's Rambo". From the point to the handle scales it's 4 3/8" with a 4" cutting edge. The blade is 1 1/8" wide and right at 5/32 thick with a flat saber grind, so it is durable enough to take whatever any rational person will put it through.

The handle scales are cross cut Pecan from a dead tree that a friend brought to me. A small section of the tree had this extremely unique figuring that I could make knife scale blocks with. After cutting, dehydrating, and stabilizing, I think they came out beautiful. One of this customers requirements was to have Florida wood handle material that was darker. Not many Florida woods that I've got my sticky fingers on are very dark but this particular piece of Pecan kind of fit that requirement.

For the sheath he wanted a pouch sheath with a clip. Becky has made a few different styles of pouch sheaths with clips and she settled on this design because not only will it fit this style knife it looks good.
